Construction of the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts has significantly impacted the redevelopment of the downtown area and has been the catalyst for a new riverside cultural district. The building connects directly to River Walk, a several-mile area of continuous pathways and parkland, and it is adjacent to River Stage, an outdoor performance venue.
More than 500,000 people, including 60,000 schoolchildren, visit the museum for exhibitions, educational programs, community meetings, and other activities. Developed in partnership with the local university and independent school district, its education program is unparalleled with more than 70 programs for pre-school through high school students.
