Managing Partner, Austin
Douglas serves as the Managing Partner of the Austin office. His experience, ranging from higher education and civic community buildings includes performing arts centers, libraries, student centers, and city halls. He has a true passion for architecture, and his projects showcase buildings that take inspiration from the culture and context of their community.
He has achieved this through innovative planning, thoughtful designs, and active partner involvement which ensures projects surpass client and user expectations. Serving as a firmwide resource for a wide variety of planning and design issues, he is involved in the development of the programming and design concepts, as well as the implementation of sustainability strategies. He lends planning, design, and operational experience to the creation of a project which will support the mission, vision, and values of each client.
Douglas has a passion for making an impact in his hometown of Taylor, Texas. Using historic tax credits, he has developed and rejuvenated multiple historic buildings and is in the process of developing other downtown properties. In New York, he is active in his community serving on the board of the Bogardus Plaza Expansion and Reconstruction in Tribeca; Co-President of the Westside Center for Community Life; and former President of Emerging Artist Theatre. He has served on numerous AIA Design award juries and was a prior guest speaker and visiting design studio leader at Texas Tech University. In 2018, he was recognized as the Texas Tech College of Architecture Distinguished Alumnus.
