County of Riverside, Historic Superior Court & Jail Complex

Riverside, California

The County of Riverside’s Historic Superior Court and Jail Complex has a classical design that was modeled after the Grand and Petit Palais in Paris. Bringing this 1903 landmark back to its original glory required a careful balancing of schedule, budget, historic, life-safety, and Judge’s requirements. Much of the renovation focused on the courtrooms, including two historically significant courtrooms. Steinberg Hart developed a seismic strengthening system for the unreinforced masonry building as well as the scope of work and construction cost estimates.
