Steinberg Hart created a modern workplace within a historic 1920s building in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles’ Financial District, showing off the existing exposed brick and concrete of the former furniture showroom. In designing their own workplace, the team focused on encouraging productivity, supporting a design culture built around collaboration and interactivity, and keeping an eye on health and wellness. The flexible space acts as a catalyst for growth, reflecting Steinberg Hart’s best practices in workplace design.
The design achieved a LEED Silver rating through the incorporation of sustainable practices. The design team promoted a zero private office environment, instead opting for private meeting rooms that support collaboration and accommodate the need for private calls and quiet space. The entire staff – including management, design, and corporate accounting is seated together; the reduced hierarchy means better engagement with leadership and staff while promoting a stronger cross-office dialogue and spontaneous interactions.
The floor is organized by work groups around centralized amenities and supported by multiple pin-up area within the open workspace, helping to increase work sharing and provoke impromptu design dialogue. The abundance of natural light and views as well as incorporating biophilia into the workplace has increased productivity and led to a more invigorated work environment.
