The center is a hub of interaction and wellness offices, a recreation center, dining opportunities and spaces for over 30 student services and organizations. On a prominent axis for students approaching the student center, the Beacon stands as the defining feature of the campus and sets the stage for a new academic quad.

Expressing the student activities within, the Beacon accommodates a coffee shop and open gathering space for students to socialize and relax. The center promotes a connection to the exterior environment through large open porches surrounding the Beacon.
