Steinberg Hart Elevates Michael Miller to Design Principal

LOS ANGELES —Steinberg Hart, an award-winning, full-service architecture firm, announced today that Michael Miller has been elevated to Design Principal.

“Mike is a talented designer and thoughtful design mentor who I’ve enjoyed working with for close to 20 years,” said President & CEO David Hart, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP. “It’s been a pleasure to see—and been part of—the development of Mike’s career. I hired Mike straight out of SCI-Arc and together we’ve collaborated on the design of numerous projects such as Golden West College Library, West Valley Fox Center, and Crafton Hills College Learning Resource Center – each one an award-winning example of design excellence for our firm. Our Higher Education practice has been shaped by Mike’s ability to challenge our assumptions, provide inspiring design insight and relentlessly pursue quality in our work. We look forward to Mike’s leadership and creativity as a Design Principal, helping us to change the world for the better one project at a time.”

Leading by example with his ideas-based approach to design and most recently serving as an Associate Principal / Design Director, Miller has helped to build Steinberg Hart’s culture of design excellence through promoting and supporting thought-based and collaborative design. “I’ve always believed that architecture is a team sport, and it’s an honor to have had the opportunity to work with such a strong and intellectually rigorous team for more than a decade at Steinberg Hart,” said Design Principal Michael Miller. “As a Design Principal, I look forward to having an even stronger impact on the advancement of design in our practice by further pushing how our team thinks about the spatial poetry and materiality of buildings, the application of technology in the visualization and fabrication of structures, and our continued integration of sustainable strategies early on in design.”

As a collaborator, leader and mentor, Miller combines a comprehensive understanding of client goals and program with a detailed investigation of the site to formulate a creative approach to complex projects. Understanding the “big picture” of each project and refining this thought through the details, he provides fresh perspectives and challenges convention to develop unique design outcomes. Miller has collaborated on the design of award-winning projects that include the Crafton Hills Public Safety Allied Health Building and the CSU Fullerton, Titan Student Union and is currently leading the design of the Computer Science & Makerspace Building at Harvey Mudd College.

Michael Miller earned a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Architecture degree from the University at Buffalo and received his Master of Architecture degree from Southern California Institute of Architecture. He serves on the Architectural Awards Committee for the Los Angeles Business Council (LABC) and has also served as both juror and studio instructor within the local architectural education community.
