Steinberg announced today that Sean R. Rosebrugh AIA, LEED AP, has joined the firm as a strategic leader based in its Los Angeles office. As Principal and Higher Education Practice Leader, Rosebrugh will guide all aspects of the higher education design team at Steinberg.
“This is an exciting time for higher education,” said Steinberg President & CEO David Hart, AIA, LEED AP. “Sean caps a strong higher education leadership team and group of designers whose forward-thinking approach creates campus environments designed to spark innovation and build community, delivering a holistic learning experience. Sean’s experience and approach will strengthen our work, reinforcing our commitment to excellence in all areas of our higher education practice.”
Bringing over 28 years of experience designing and planning for colleges and universities, Rosebrugh has a deep understanding of campus environments. “I was drawn to the myriad of applicable skillsets and strong expertise already in place at Steinberg,” said Rosebrugh. “My background, particularly in the areas of master planning and health sciences, are a great compliment to Steinberg’s robust and dynamic Higher Education team as we continue to grow.”
Over his career, Rosebrugh’s belief that architecture should seek to inspire connections and conversations has underpinned his approach to masterplanning, designing, and devising construction administration solutions. “On a campus, design should bring people together,” said Rosebrugh. “A thoughtfully planned campus allows students to interact as they make their way across a quad. A well-programmed academic building means that students use the spaces to do more than take a test. Good design inside and outside a classroom can invigorate and inspire students.”
This commitment to enhancing the student experience while helping to address the ongoing institutional challenges of recruiting, retention, and revenue has driven his work for clients at top-tier institutions in the US and abroad. While at DLR Group, Rosebrugh was a driving force in extending the firm’s higher education practice and developing strategic institutional relationships. During his tenure at Ayers Saint Gross, Rosebrugh designed classroom buildings at institutions such as John Hopkins University and the University of Virginia, performing arts centers at the University of Maryland, and a wide range of campus housing and allied health projects across the country.
Sean Rosebrugh received his Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University. In addition to holding a membership with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and earning a certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) BD+C, he is an active presenter with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Having master planned and built over seven million square feet of institutional space across the country, Steinberg has a long record of translating strategic visions into beautiful campuses and creating environments that support community building, teaching, and learning.Download Press Release PDF
