The San Jose Downtown Association Honors the Pierce with the Jim Fox Golden Nail Award

For the first time in six years, the San Jose Downtown Association has chosen a development worthy of being awarded the Jim Fox Golden Nail Award: the Pierce. The Association’s Design Committee unanimously selected the Steinberg-designed mixed-use development for this honor for its exemplary contribution to downtown San Jose.

The Jim Fox Golden Nail Award recognizes transformative downtown San Jose developments while honoring developer Jim Fox’s legacy for his instrumental work in helping to make downtown San Jose what it is today. President & CEO David Hart, AIA, LEED AP, accepted the award on behalf of Steinberg at a ceremony held on Friday, December 8th at the 2017 San Jose Downtown Association Year in Review.

Working with developer Sares Regis Group of Northern California, Steinberg designed a dynamic mixed-use community that helps to satisfy San Jose’s growing demand for transit-oriented, urban living. Located in the SoFA arts district near downtown, the in-fill development helps define and frame a gateway into downtown from the south. Accessible by light rail, the 232-unit development aims to appeal to young, urban-minded tech workers who work in downtown San Jose and the greater Silicon Valley region.
