Southeastern Live Well Center in Top 3 Finalists for ENR 2024 US Project of the Year

We are thrilled to announce that the County of San Diego Southeastern Live Well Center has been selected as a finalist for Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) 2024 U.S. Project of the Year. This recognition places our project among the best in the nation, highlighting its innovation, impact, and excellence in design and construction.

The selection follows the Southeastern Live Well Center’s recognition in ENR’s 2024 Best of the Best competition, where it was named the Best Government/Public Building project in the U.S. The 20 winners were chosen from more than 800 entries, representing the top projects from ENR’s regional awards program. Now, as a finalist for U.S. Project of the Year, the Southeastern Live Well Center’s story has risen above the elite group of projects, as one of three finalists competing for ENR’s highest honor.

Completed ahead of schedule in July 2023, the Southeastern Live Well Center is a 65,000-square-foot, all-electric, zero net energy facility that provides vital health and social services to the community. Designed with trauma-informed principles, the center prioritizes natural light, open and welcoming spaces, and sustainable energy solutions, including a photovoltaic system that offsets 110% of its energy use and EV charging infrastructure for future needs.

This honor is a testament to the dedication of our entire project team, including PCL Construction and Steinberg Hart, who worked collaboratively to deliver a space that fosters wellness, sustainability, and community connection.

Stay tuned as ENR announces the U.S. Project of the Year winner in March! Read more about the competition and our fellow finalists here.
