Heritage Square

Pasadena, California

Heritage Square provides its Pasadena neighborhood with much-needed affordable senior housing and a community center for the resident seniors and neighboring community. The guiding principal used in developing the project was to create a community that contextually blends into its surrounding, incorporating arts and craft style details reflecting those seen throughout the residential neighborhood. A decorative sunscreen, to be designed by local artists, is planned for the main entrance to the building. The Community Center will offer various spaces that can be used by the community for gathering, civic meetings, arts and sustainable education. This multi-purpose room also provides senior residents with a gathering space for indoor exercise, wellness programs, as well as additional social gathering space.

The community courtyards with sycamore and palm trees have been integrated into the design to provide a safe haven for seniors to exercise, socialize and enjoy outdoor living.
