David HartAIA, NCARB, LEED AP
Since joining Steinberg Hart in 2002, David Hart has led many of the firm’s most challenging projects and spearheaded its expansion into new regions and sectors. With offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego, and Shanghai, David continues to evolve the practice by building diverse, highly-talented design teams and successfully expanding market segments. He developed Steinberg Hart’s reputation as a leader in Higher Education design by focusing on aspirational, student-centered projects for California’s public college systems and private universities. David is currently leading the firm’s large mixed-use projects in urban cores throughout California with a focus on transit oriented development, affordability, community building and value creation for clients.
As an architect, David’s professional career has focused on the design and delivery of academic, civic, mixed-use, and urban high-rise buildings for over twenty five years. An internationally award-winning designer, he is recognized for projects such as Golden West College, Learning Resource Center, UCLA Hitch Suites, and the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. David’s work is anchored in the concept of place-making and his buildings contribute architectural identity to a site or skyline.
David is an engaged and active champion for sustainable design. He completed the first LEED platinum student housing project in the nation for the CSU system and advocates for equity in sustainability. David is a sought after juror and speaker and is a member of the ULI Urban Revitalization Council and on the LABC Board of Directors. He graduated as valedictorian from Texas Tech University where he was awarded the AIA Henry Adams Medal and the Academic-Citizenship Award.
